About Us

ULTEN was established in 1997 then known as Catchcon Engineering. Mr Harry Nieuwoudt came up with the concept or idea. Mr Andre Minne was responsible for the design and datapack. The ideas and design has never stopped since.

As far back as 1997 Mr Nieuwoudt, who specialised in conveyor belts, realised that there existed no proper belt arrestor to arrest broken conveyor belts. In these times his unique concept was developed and patented. (SA Patent No. 97/11189).

The belt arrestor series were designed for incline conveyor belts, to arrest the TOP and BOTTOM belts in case of a belt breakage to prevent it from running down the incline.

There are two ways of stopping the belt. First by clamping (wedging it) and stopping it dead with no further movement. We refer to it as an ARRESTOR. Secondly by braking the belt and allowing it to move through while braking it. We refer to it as a BELT BRAKE.

Our products were further developed over the years with an uncompromising approach to functionality, quality, service and workmanship to include catchers and brakes for both top and bottom belts.

In our company which is based in Brits Gauteng, we have skilled staff including a prof. engineer, quality assurance personnel, coded welders and qualified artisans.

ULTEN (Pty) Ltd is today the leading belt arrestor manufacturer for South Africa and its neighbouring countries.
